USCIS indicated it will implement the first improvements to the EB-5 immigrant investor program by September 1st. On August 2nd, 2011 the Department of Homeland Security released a memo indicating that their will be a phased implementation of several improvements to the EB-5 program.
These improvements include: premium processing for EB-5 Regional Center applications, implementing direct lines of communication between USCIS and the petitioner, and providing applicants an opportunity for an interview before USCIS experts if needed to resolve outstanding issues.
One of the most highly anticipated improvement is the availability of EB-5 premium processing, especially now that I-526 processing times have slowed to about 7 months. Most stakeholders hope this is the first of the improvements as many EB-5 investors are eager to receive their green cards.
